The signals department handles a variety of different tasks from lubricating mechanisms and machines to troubleshooting code or signal failures. However, each job is important to have a properly functioning signals division as well as to ensure all trains coming in and out of the USRC are directed safely to their destination.

Flagging/track protection
Flagging protection is commonly used to ensure that trains move safely through construction areas managed by TTR or others outside firms.
Level Crossing installations & Maintenance
All highway and grade level crossing maintenance is the responsibilty of TTR, where the tracks are considered part of the USRC.
Project Management & Construction Services
TTR is responsible for project management and construction projects to maintain the USRC, and supervising construction being performed by outside companies hired by the City or GO Transit.

Signal & Communications Maintenance
Our signalling team is dedicated to maintaining, inspecting and controlling the hundreds of signals and miles of signalling cable along the USRC in compliance with TTR and Transport Canada standards.
Track Maintenance & Construction
Track maintenance invovles a variety of different tasks which can include replacing track ties, repairing sections of track, seasonal construction and repair work at various spots across the system.
Train Marshalling
Train marshalling describes the train car order which is put together to make a train. TTR is responsible for marshalling the trains once they enter the port and send them back out.
