engineering excellence on every rail

One of TTR’s most important roles is maintaining the tracks within the USRC. Track maintenance involves a variety of different tasks which can include replacing track ties, repairing sections of track, seasonal construction and repair work at various spots across the system.

In order to keep the USRC tracks in the best conditions, rail inspections are performed regularly. This is done by using Hi-Rail trucks, inspection cars and handheld inspection devices. TTR workers perform a thorough inspection by visually assessing every part of the track, which includes sub grade, rail, ties, ballast, switches and turnouts.
