Union Representation at ttr
working together with unifor and ibew
At TTR, we value the contributions of our dedicated unionized employees who help keep Canada's rail operations moving safely and efficiently. We are proud to work in partnership with the following unions:

Formed on August 31, 2013, by merging CAW and CEP, Unifor is now Canada’s largest private-sector union, with approximately 310,000–320,000 members, Unifor Local 4000 (National Council 4000) represents about 5,060 members across Canada in rail, transportation, and related sectors. Nationally, Unifor represents over 9,000 rail workers across 32 bargaining units, equating to roughly 3% of its total membership.
Council 4000 also covers about 3,300 CN employees in mechanical, clerical, and intermodal functions under separate bargaining. At TTR Unifor represents approximately 40 non-management employees in the Track Department.

Founded in 1891, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is a major North American union with approximately 820,000 members.
In Canada, IBEW’s Railroad Signals & Communications System Council No. 11 represents around 1,400 signal and communications employees, including those working on freight, passenger, and commuter rail systems. At TTR the IBEW represents approximately 90 of our non-management Signal and Communication employees.
IBEW is structured into local lodges, enabling member-driven governance, including workplace representation, grievance resolution, bylaw oversight, and training coordination.
