the double slip switch project

upgrading rail infrastructure with precision

status: completed

The DSS (Double Slip Switch) project involved upgrading the USRC’s outdated track and signals infrastructure to accommodate a future replacement of traffic control system. The DSS replacement project required the change-out of approximately 100 pieces of specialty track work within the USRC updating the track and signal assets to today’s standards. The program included track and signal design, construct, installation and testing activities.

TTR worked as project manager for the track and signals portion of the project, working in cooperation with engineering consortium of HDI as the design engineer on the team. TTR coordinated the track design and testing, planned yearly construction schedules with the client, submitted budget reports and performed post-construction testing.

Further TTR worked to ensure safe work practices were followed and the timely delivery of drawings and records. All track additions, signal upgrades and hardware renewals were accomplished while maintaining a safe and on-time train performance for on the USRC of 99%.TTR worked with all stakeholders, GO Transit, VIA, CN and CP rail companies to ensure a safe and efficient operation throughout the entire upgrade.
